1Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using UP/1B Calculator (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
These terms form a legal agreement between you and Gas Installers Workmate Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company based in the United Kingdom.
2About the app
UP/1B Calculator is a mobile application designed to guide Gas Safe registered engineers through the tightness testing and purging procedure set out in IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4. It provides step-by-step guidance, installation volume calculations, pressure drop assessments, and exportable test records.
The App is available on iOS via the Apple App Store and on Android via Google Play.
3Who may use the app
The App is intended for use by qualified, Gas Safe registered engineers in the United Kingdom. By using the App you confirm that:
- You are a competent person qualified to carry out gas tightness testing and purging procedures
- You hold the appropriate Gas Safe registration and qualifications for the work you are carrying out
- You are aged 18 or over
We accept no liability for use of the App by unqualified or unregistered individuals.
4Licence
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download and use the App on devices you own or control, for your personal professional use.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its content
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
- Sell, sublicense, or transfer the App to any third party
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
5Professional responsibility
The App is a tool to assist you — it does not replace your professional judgement. You remain solely and fully responsible for all gas work carried out on site, including the accuracy of your readings, the safety of the installation, and compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
The App guides you through the IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4 procedure, but it is your responsibility to:
- Ensure you are using the correct procedure for the installation type
- Verify all readings and inputs you enter into the App
- Apply your own engineering judgement at every stage
- Comply with Gas Safe registration requirements and all relevant legislation
- Ensure the completed test record meets the requirements of your registration body
We accept no responsibility for errors arising from incorrect data entry, misuse of the App, or failure to apply appropriate professional judgement.
6Accuracy of information
We take reasonable care to ensure that the calculations, procedures, and guidance within the App accurately reflect IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4. However, gas safety standards can be updated and we cannot guarantee that the App will always reflect the most current version of any standard.
It is your responsibility to ensure you are working to the current applicable standard. If you become aware of any inaccuracy in the App, please contact us immediately.
7Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gas Installers Workmate Ltd shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Any injury, property damage, or financial loss arising from gas work carried out using the App
- Errors or inaccuracies in data you enter into the App
- Reliance on App output without independent professional verification
- Loss of data or records stored within the App
- Interruption or unavailability of the App or its cloud services
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
8Purchases and refunds
The App is sold as a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The purchase price is £8.99 (or local equivalent). There are no subscriptions or recurring charges.
All purchases are processed by Apple or Google respectively, and their purchase and refund policies apply. We do not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds — please contact Apple or Google support for refund requests.
9User accounts
The App requires you to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. You must notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that are found to be in breach of these terms.
10Prohibited use
You must not use the App:
- In any way that violates applicable UK law or regulation
- To carry out gas work for which you are not qualified or registered
- To falsify test records or produce fraudulent documentation
- To attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts
- In any way that could damage, disable, or impair the App or our servers
11Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in the App and its content — including the software, design, text, calculations, and branding — are owned by Gas Installers Workmate Ltd or our licensors.
Nothing in these terms grants you any rights in the App other than the limited licence set out in section 4.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via an app update or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
